The Provisional Replacement Certificate (PSC), like the European Health Insurance Card, is a personal and non-transferable document that proves the right to receive health benefits. This certificate offers the same coverage as the European Health Insurance Card, but is issued for a maximum period of 90 days from its start date.
Generally, the Provisional Replacement Certificate for the EHIC is usually requested when the issuance of the European Health Insurance Card is not possible, or when your next trip or journey is imminent.

A través de este servicio gratuito puede solicitar y renovar la Tarjeta Sanitaria Europea (TSE). También puede obtener el Certificado Provisional Sustitutorio de la Tarjeta Sanitaria Europea (TSE), para el titular de la asistencia médica y sus beneficiarios.
La TSE no es válida cuando el objetivo del viaje es recibir tratamiento médico. En tal caso, el Instituto Nacional de la Seguridad Social (INSS) o el Instituto Social de la Marina (ISM) deberán expedir el correspondiente formulario, previo informe favorable del Servicio de Salud.
En determinados casos, deberá abonar una cantidad fija o un porcentaje de los gastos de asistencia sanitaria, de acuerdo con las condiciones aplicables a los residentes en el Estado al que viaja. Estos importes no son reembolsables.
La TSE es válida desde la fecha de recepción hasta la fecha de caducidad indicada en la tarjeta. La utilización de la TSE durante el periodo de validez depende de que el titular siga cumpliendo los requisitos que dieron lugar a la expedición del certificado. En caso contrario, los gastos incurridos podrán ser recuperados como prestaciones indebidas, de acuerdo con lo dispuesto en el artículo 76 del Reglamento (CE) 883/04.
